How to make a sheep!

Step 1: Draw something that resembles a sheep onto paper.

Step 2: Cut out the paper sheep, glue onto cardboard and cut out to make a template.

Step 3: Draw how many body parts you need using the templates for each sheep. For example, one head, 2 sets of legs and a body for each sheep.

Step 4: Cut out all the parts and give each student the cut outs they need.

Step 5: You will need 2 eyes for each sheep, a black pen for each student, cotton wool, glue and a stick.

Step 6: Glue the eyes onto the head and draw a black nose and mouth :=)

Step 7: Colour the legs in black and glue cotton wool over all the body parts.

Step 8: Make a hole in the top of the head and the top of the other body parts with a pencil. Then place the stick through the holes starting with the head, legs, body and legs.

You should have something that resembles a sheep! Baa!

Step 9: Relax and sing baa baa black sheep!

Wonderful, don't you just love catch 22 situations? Yes, that is a rhetorical question! Today (and by today I mean yesterday), I needed energy for classes of wild animals so I had a small coffee from the machine, and now here I am exhausted but still unable to sleep and it's already tomorrow (Thursday). The worst part is it doesn't even taste like real coffee!

What's more, the big animals were all hibernating from the rain, I mean what's that about? It seems in all the Spanish speaking countries I've visited, if it's raining there is an unwritten law that class is automatically cancelled.

On the other hand, we are one step closer to making our 3D sheep and I learned that Galicia has the highest suicide rate in Spain (obviously this is due to vile weather). What wonderful information our students are full of! Of course, this was shortly followed by the fact that we should celebrate everyday, and be happy for any glimpse of sunshine that might appear in our grey Galician skies.

P.S. If you can't wait for the glimpse of sunshine in Galicia, Tenerife is only 2 and a half hours away and they have sunshine all year round!

P.P.S. Also consider purchase of electric blanket (as I am right now), this may actually be cheaper than Tenerife and will

a. hopefully stop us getting frostbite whilst sleeping

and

b. stop me singing frosty the snowman in my head.

Reminds me of home!!!

Lots of little bars ..... sounds like Ireland really!  Hope you all have a great day today and I don't think the rain will prevent us enjoying overselves!!!!
So last night we were talking about our hometowns. Granted, most of the answers were Lugo, but even in the little villages the common denominator was "there are lots of bars!" Really? Out of all the things you could say about a place this seems to be the most important. No wonder why Spain has such a party reputation!

So here we go on this grey Tuesday - fiesta, siesta and sangria! What more could you want?!

Monday 20 January 2014

Monday again! We are off to a busy start here with Cambridge exam practice and the wild animals later. I'll let you know if I am referring to the subject or the students!

This week we should be starting our 3D animals and posters, so keep posted for the results and a how to.

I also had another great idea last night that I might put into practice as well - homemade piggy banks!

If anyone else has ideas for animal projects or in general please feel free to share them.

Enjoy your Monday!

Yes, yesterday was fun learning about wild animals, as well as teaching them! I can think of a few in particular I would like to hunt down!

Take a look at my crazy cat for learning body vocabulary! I'm not the best drawer in the world, which the kids (and adults) frequently remind me of, but this time I think it actually resembles the intended animal.

Here's to another wild day!

The end of another day at Jordan English! Thanks to all our wonderful teachers & students for a great day of hard work, fun and games! And you wanna know the best thing? We get to do it tomorrow all over again!!! Good night! xoxoxoxox

Good Morning!

Hello everyone!

Despite the vile weather in Lugo this week (and probably the next few months) we are off to a good start.
Our theme with the little ones this month is animals and seems to be proving a good one so far. Our most recent addition to the animal kingdom is a 'marifly' (now also my favourite word in Spanglish), I couldn't help but laugh at that one. If you can't guess the real word should be 'butterfly'!

Well it's time to get the party started! Lots of fun and games planned here today! Oh and let's not forget singing and dancing to 'Old Macdonald had a farm', which is now on permanent replay in my head, and yes, I am also singing myself to sleep with it as well.
