Hello!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did some cooking this weekend after many weeks of being lazy but we're on a gluten free diet here at Jordan English and I can definitely feel the difference, so much more energy! Not enough to keep up with the crazy rug rats though!

First I made lentil burgers, then I made some potato wedges and a mango coleslaw salad to have with it. I get my recipes and inspiration from this website, although it's not possible to get all the ingredients here so use your imagination and be creative!

We're on 'a count down' down to Easter hols as well, time flies here...2 weeks and counting!

How was your weekend?

Let us know!

Friday 28 March 2014

Friday fun day is here!

Finally the weekend is here! And here is the test I told you about too...

Let me know what type of learner you are!

Yesterday, we had an interesting conversion about how school has changed in the last 100 years. Apparently here things have gone from one extreme to the other (super strict and rigid to completely loose). What was your school like and how has it changed? Do/did you have to wear a uniform?

I had to wear a tie, a blazer and a skirt. Girls were not allowed to wear trousers because it wasn't 'feminine'! I think it was changed when I was there...still no jewellery or make up though!

Wednesday 26 March 2014

What type of learner are you???

So it turns out most of us were visual learners, do you see the words in your head when you read?

One or two of us were audio learners, who can listen to music whilst studying or working and this helps them.

What about you? Do you prefer to listen to music or do you need complete silence? Do you always need something in your hand and move your hands while you are speaking?

I'll post the test later and you can take the test yourselves!

Today we're going to go over some funny idioms...have you got a bun in the oven? :O

So...let's all paint the town red today!

Monday 24 March 2014

Another manic Monday here!

Well done to all our students (and ourselves) for turning up to the mock exams on Saturday, I think that was a reality shock of how difficult and tiring the Cambridge exams really are!

Today some of us are going to do a 'test' to find out what type of learners we are...I'm looking forward to the results ;)

One of our star students Lucia is jetting off to England soon to do an intensive course! What I wouldn't give to be free to do that for 12 weeks! I can just imagine myself learning Spanish in the Caribbean next to the beach all day everyday...

P.S This week we are offering 2 homemade robots to a good home with kids! Volunteers are welcome...

Enjoy your day!

Enjoy your weekends everyone and relax!

Happy Father's Day

I hope everyone is well and treating their dads to something special today, it's father's day here in Spain. So hopefully we are going to make some fun cards for our papis today :)

This week is flying by and it's non-stop here at Jordan English, as we say in English 'time flies when you're having fun!'

Apparently this weekend our sunny spell is over, so no rush to go out and buy garden furniture (surprise surprise). On the other hand, I think the sun has gone to some of the ESO girls' heads...'ooh beach boys...tanned, muscles...hot' not to mention the significant distraction some Danish boys are causing them either!

Thankfully, today is mostly my cute innocent infantile babies :), hurray for the shopping game and fairytale dominoes!

Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I hope everyone is going out for their pint of Guinness today! We got ours in last night...

Also only 4 weeks left until Easter! Time flies when you're having fun and we have plenty of that here!

Don't forget to matricula asap...time is running out!

Happy St. Patrick's day and enjoy your Guinness!

P.S. If anyone finds a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow let me know!

Happy Wednesday!

The middle of the week is here already! Things go so much faster when it's sunny!

Yesterday we did our presentations on our cities/lands, Silly City, Sweetland and Animal City. Of course there aren't any schools in any of them nor are there any greengrocer's, only, chocolate shops, sweet shops and football stadiums.

Saint Patrick's day is also soon, and father's day here in Spain! There's always a fiesta here...

More to come soon! Enjoy your day!

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend in the sunshine :)

I hope it lasts because it feels wonderful to actually want to get out of bed in the morning and enjoy the beautiful weather!

We are going to start moving on to our spring themes and projects now, I have some things up my sleeve but any ideas are welcome!

Happy Monday!

Thursday 6 March 2014

Good morning everyone! The sun is shining at last, so that must mean spring is here!

I can't believe it is Thursday already, I could get used to these 2 day weeks :)

Yesterday, we finished our crown and the Queen robot had her coronation...

We all curtsied in front of the Queen and honoured her.

We also dressed up for our carnival parties, make way for Snow White, Prince Charming and let's not forget teddy nini of course!

Enjoy the sunshine!

How to... Make a Robot!

Here we go! Be prepared for craziness!

You will need:

  • A big box (rectangular is best for the body)
  • A small box (for the head)
  • 5 toilet rolls or 3 kitchen rolls (just the tubes not the paper)
  • Grey paint
  • A thick black pen
  • 2 big googly eyes
  • Some brightly coloured wrapping paper
  • Cutter
  • Tissue paper or something that can be used for hair
  • Glue

Step 1: Put the boxes together with cello tape (if they have been taken apart).

Step 2: At your own risk paint the box for the head with grey paint, this can get rather messy, be prepared! Or you can wrap it in brown parcel paper, if the box has writing on it.

Step 3: Once this has dried, make a hole for one of the tubes with the cutter in the top of the body and under the head (for a 'trachea') this will hold the boxes together.

Step 4: Use the wrapping paper to cover the body and make 'a dress' or preferred items of clothing.

Step 5: Join two toilet rolls together or with one kitchen roll cello tape the rolls onto the sides of the body for the arms. You can wrap them in the wrapping paper first, if you want 'a long sleeve dress'.

Step 6: Stick the googly eyes onto the head, draw a nose and a mouth or use other materials to stick on.

Step 7: Using glue or cello tape, stick on ripped up tissue paper onto the head or whatever other materials you are using (wool may work well too).

Finally, you should have your robot and depending how many classes you have, a whole family!

Say hello to the Queen rapunzel (right) and her daughters, Princess Superman on the left and in the middle Princess Pink

P.S You can also make a jewelled crown which we are working on today!

I will post another photo when we have crowned the Queen and Princesses!
